Oil Break Systems
Separating emulsified oils - more than just basic skimming
Our oil break system effectively uses chemical or thermal methods to disrupt oil-water emulsions, allowing for efficient removal and preventing downstream contamination. This process is essential for industries handling high concentrations of oil-laden wastewater, ensuring regulatory compliance and protecting sensitive equipment.

1
Design Flow
▶
Select the design flow rate for the oil break system.
F025
0–25 GPM
Low flow; batch or continuous small-system
F050 Standard
26–50 GPM
Standard small system
F100
51–100 GPM
Medium industrial flow
F200
101–200 GPM
Large system; heat exchanger preferred
F300
201–300 GPM
Very large; multi-stage system
FCUST
Custom Flow
Outside standard range; provide GPM
2
Treatment Method
▶
Select the oil-breaking mechanism. Thermal is most reliable for heat-sensitive emulsions. Chemical is required for certain industrial emulsions.
THERM Standard
Thermal (Heat)
Heating to 140–180°F; effective for heat-sensitive emulsions; includes heater and temp control
CHEM
Chemical (Acid / Demulsifier)
Acid or demulsifier injection; pH driven to 3–5; requires pH adjustment downstream
COMBO
Thermal + Chemical Combination
Combined treatment; highest reliability for challenging emulsified oils
CUST
Custom Treatment Method
Unusual wastewater; provide characterization for engineering review
3
Tank Configuration
▶
Select the tank arrangement.
SINGLE
Single Tank
Combined heating and settling in one vessel
DUAL Standard
Dual Tank — Treatment + Settling
Separate treatment and quiescent settling tanks; improved phase separation
MULTI
Multi-Stage (3+ Tanks)
Three or more stages; highest separation efficiency
4
Heating Method
▶
Select the heat source for thermal oil break systems.
IMM Standard
Immersion Heater
Electric immersion heater in treatment tank; simplest installation
HX
Heat Exchanger
Shell-and-tube or plate HX with hot water/steam; preferred for high-flow continuous service
DW-HW
Double-Walled — Hot Water Recirculation
Double-wall jacket; Tenco or plant-provided hot water system
NH
No Heating (Chemical Method)
Chemical break only; no heating required
5
Material of Construction
▶
CS Standard
Carbon Steel (Epoxy Lined)
Standard; internal epoxy lining
304SS
304 Stainless Steel
Moderate corrosion environments
316SS
316 Stainless Steel
